Two random pickins from my music library. The first, a cover of Tim & Eric's song Wipe My Butt, covered by The Shins. Be sure to listen through to the end of the song, where the band starts to improvize. It's c-l-a-s-s-y. The second, Guns of Brooklyn by Santogold, a single from the Diplo/Santogold mixtape, which is dub-tastic. Enjoi!
I've recently been able to get my hands on a CPK for myself and it arrived at my doorstep (so to speak, since I have a po box...lol) yesterday. I have to say I was really excited when I opened it up and looked at the little guy! Very nicely cast... I'll have to post pics of the thing when I get a chance to take some. The features are really cool, and stand out nicely but yet are subtle enough that if one wants to work from a more clean slate, I would imagine sanding off the features could work to do that.
More to come!!!
I was checking out a Rihanna video today and glanced down at the comments (I should know better by now, but it's the whole "Fascination with the Abomination" thing) and saw this little gem:
Isn't she as much white as she is black? Turns out, she's from Barbados and of Guyanese descent. I realise that I'm treading touchy ground here, but as a person of "mixed descent" myself, I guess I'm more sensitive to these things. Maybe overly so. BUT. I think I have a point here and it's that she's no more black than white, but because she's apparently a little bit black, she's not white anymore? Maybe it's just a "white country" thing and in Africa, she's regarded as white. In Barbados, she's probably just Barbadian (or Bajan). In China, would they regard her as black? Possibly. If I go to China, I wonder if the natives would regard me as white or chinese...
This is stupid. I'm not sure what my point is anymore.
*sigh*

Ok posted just recently, an image of wave 2 of the CPK (Cell Phones Kill) series of DIY resin figures. They look pretty good to me, but the coolest part is they mention something about another surprise coming... hmmmm... also it looks like if you submit your designs, they'll start posting em on the blog! Who knows what else is coming...!?
Every now and again I see an outrageously well-done custom show up at Custom Toy Lab (CTL) and have to post about it here, so that none of you will miss out on the good artistry. :D The latest is a Labbit by Squidboy (aka Shawn Michael Evans). You can view more images on the CTL page (link). Also be sure to check out Squidboy's blog for more of his artistic oddities..
I just love the loose painted/doodled look of his designs. The child like doodles, the chunky painted colors all mixed up with the elaborately "stamped" lettering spelling out what seems to be "Jannie"... Just an awesome collage of colors and styles. Perfectly done, IMO.
Charlie, the creator of the cool little creatures called saucernauts is apparently planning to drop a bomb on us.. here is a little sneak peek... Can't wait to see more!
...Sneak a Peak...
Please note that this is a work in progress...details on what it is, where it came from, etc to follow.
Check out saucernauts at Saucernauts.com
Ok guys get your digital pens ready and your imaginations roaring.. The CPK templates are available apparently! Been watching this site and its been advertised that if you email them you'll get a hi res (not sure what format) template for your designing pleasure. Woot!
Look for an idea or two here from me! :D I'mma get going on some idea right away!
